There are approximately 1,571,056 nonprofit organizations currently in the United States (that averages to 31,421 per State in the USA). This figure includes public charities, private foundations and other types of nonprofits such as chambers of commerce, fraternal organizations and civic leagues.
The vast majority (99%) of these nonprofit organizations do a wonderful, amazing job providing services and supporting their communities with their energy, passion and heart! And yet many of these organizations compete with each other for financial donations and grants from any number of sources. Some constantly struggle to find the necessary funding needed to continue their efforts, on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
From childhood, we are all taught to be independent, resourceful and self-sufficient. Those exact virtues are taught to the blind and visually impaired. So as a company, the decision was made to pursue financial independence and self-sufficiency instead of always needing additional outside funding to continue to operate.
It is strongly believed that providing this type of service to the blind and visually impaired is an important endeavor and a necessary endeavor. Having to suspend operations for any amount of time due to losing funding or a gap in funding is completely unacceptable. Therefore, Webaudio is not a nonprofit.
In addition, we feel confident that after achieving self-sufficiency, we will be able to donate forward financial resources to organizations that are effective and are making a difference in ours & their communities.
